Curry evening is held for two worthy causes

THIS year’s Mayor of Charnwood’s charity appeal has received a boost from a curry evening and charity raffle held at the Eastern Spice Restaurant in Leicester Road, Loughborough.

Over 50 guests, including other civic dignitaries and community representatives, joined the Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood, Coun David Gaskell and wife Jan, to raise £588 for the Birstall Playgroup for Children with Special Needs and the Cancer Research UK Charnwood Branch.

The mayor, in thanking Marj and Mike Jones for organising the event, said that he had thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and was grateful to all for attending.
