Kegworth mark Premier return with victory
KEGWORTH entertained Rothley Park on their return to the Premier League of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League and eased to a 66 run victory.
It was the home side who batted first and Rothley bowlers made early inroad reducing their hosts to 95-5 but a partnership between Fletcher (55) and Jackson (27) along with too many wides saw Kegworth to a total of 231.
For Rothley Iain O’Brien took three wickets backed up by Max Cross and Luke Welch both with two wickets each.
In reply Rothley Park were confident of chasing down the runs, however Charles Dagnall was out in the first over and many of the key top order players were out for low scores as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Kahn with 34 runs and Kazim with 30 runs led a spirited fightback but Rothley were bowled out for 165 in the 46th over to give Kegworth the win.
