Back to the classroom as Players do Teechers

-

A LOUGHBOROUGH theatre group is set to take to the stage tonight with a production where anything can happen in a drama lesson!

From Wednesday, April 26, until Saturday, April 29, The Festival Players will be taking to the stage at Loughborough University’s The Sir Martin Robert Theatre with Teechers.

The production is by John Godber, one of the most popular and successful English playwrights of the last 30 years who is best-known for his modern classics Bouncers, On the Piste and Shakers.

Teechers was written in 1984 and first performed by the Hull Truck Theatre Company at the 1987 Edinburgh Festival to great acclaim.

It tells the tale of three students: Salty, Gail and Hobby who put on an end-of-term play about the trials and tribulations of their new drama teacher, Mr Nixon, as he tries to deal with staff and pupils alike.

Audiences will also meet Mr Basford, the deputy head, Doug the caretaker, Oggy Moxon, the school bully, the legendary Barry Wobshall and a host of other characters.

The Festival Players production is directed by Rachel Ingham, designed by Andew McGowan and stars James Daw, Victoria Price and Claire Malpas.

Tickets are £14, £12 concessions, £10 under 22s, £5 schools/group bookings of 10 tickets - one teacher admitted free. Any child under 12 admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult.

The Festival Players is supporting Rainbows Hospice and from every transaction £1 will be donated to the charity.

Tickets can be purchased from The Festival Players on 07855 248832, at the Box Office on 01509 231914 or by visiting the Loughborough Town Hall website.
