-

SHEPSHED Rams are running rampant in the Loughborough & District Bowls League Monday Division 1 following on from their opening day success with a solid performance against East Leake Willows collecting all the points in a 69-37 (8-0), but it was Queens Park Queens who probably had the best result beating a strong Birstall Lighthouse team 57-39 (7-1).

The other two games in this division were very close affairs, St Margarets Maggies and Wymeswold Wolds finished level on shots but the Wolds took the points in a 45-45 (5-3) win, whilst Phoenix Pegasus hosted Syston Fosseway and despite losing on shots they shared the points in a 41-46 (4-4) score line.

In Division 2 Quorn Weavels are the early pacemakers, Syston White Plum unable to make home advantage pay, the visitors taking the game 53-44 (6-2) but Belgrave Cygnets are up there with them putting in another good performance with a 55-48 (6-2) win over much fancied Thringstone Woodpeckers. The Brush combination of Hawks and Peregrines are finding life a little tricky at the moment, Hawks going down heavily at home to St Margarets Saints 42-74 (2-6) and Peregrines losing out 50-54 (2-6) on their trip to Holt Drive to play Greenfields Badgers.

Kegworth remain at the top of Division 3 sharing the points but taking the match 58-55 (4-4) from their visit to Rothley Crusaders. Soar Valley Avons opened their season with a comfortable 60-44 (6-2) win against Phoenix Kingfishers whilst the other Soar Valley team of Merlins had very tight game at home to Greenfield Foxes but took the bulk of the points with a 40-40 (5-3) result.

Sutton Bonington Riversiders are hoping to continue their good start to the season where they find themselves heading Division 4 after their latest victory 59-35 (8-0) over Soar Valley Conways, but Sileby Swallows are close on their heels following their 55-39 (6-2) win over Shepshed Lambs. Surprise results were at Fosseway Romans where the hosts went down 40-43 (2-6) to Syston Green & Royals and Wymeswold where Steamers fresh from their 8-0 victory from the previous week, went down 35-56 (2-6) to Belgrave Ringers.

Shepshed North and Wymeswold Wolds are setting the early pace in the Thursday Division 1, North beating arch rivals New Lount Hares 75-69 (8-2) and Wolds collected the majority of the points on offer 78-58 (6-4) from their trip to Loughborough Greenfields. St Margarets Maggies returned to Birstall a happy team having taken the spoils 68-67 (6-4) on their visit to Thringstone Rangers.

Despite their 65-69 (4-6) defeat at the hands of Queens Park Carilloners, Quorn Millers still hang on to top place in Division 2. In the battle of the northern villages, Sutton Bonington just took the bragging rights in a very close game, beating rivals Kegworth 58-57 (6-4).

Soar Valley are the team to catch in Division 3 after their 103-39 (10-0) demolition of fellow club team Valoars, but Phoenix Flyers showed their intent to be up there at the end of the season when they opened their account with a 89-59 (8-2) win over Shepshed South.
