Month of events at Bradgate Park
BRADGATE Park is preparing for an exciting month celebrating its wildlife and heritage with two weekends of free activities.
The early Summer Fair is to take place on the first weekend of June and Wildlife Weekend, run by the Leicestershire and Rutland Ornithology Society, two weeks later.
The Fair, which falls on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, is to be held at Newton Linford.
Activities will include live music, craft and food stalls, demonstrations and for younger visitors will include Punch and Judy, face painting and chances to see Breeze - the popular working horse who helps the rangers with work managing trees in the woodlands.
The popular craft market is also set to return with both indoor and outdoor stalls.
The Wildlife Weekend, on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, on the fields by the deer barn in the centre of Bradgate Park, brings many of the county’s natural history groups together to share information and activities.
The weekend event also offers visitors the chance to join free short introductory walks highlighting some of the park’s rich wildlife.
June also has the first in the Trust’s series of outdoor theatre and music in the ruins of Bradgate House, an inspiring location for performances.
On Saturday, June 25 Chapterhouse Theatre Company is to perform the classic tale; Wind in the Willows.
This performance kicks off the summer season of theatre and performance that includes: Pride and Prejudice, the Proms Spectacular with the Bardi Wind Orchestra, the Trust’s first Acoustic Folk Picnic and four performances of Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Details of ticket prices and times of these events are on the Bradgate Park website and Facebook page.
