Nursery staging events to raise cash for charity

-

FROM selling cakes to a ‘ Teletubby Toddle’, a Loughborough nursery has taken part in, and is set to host, a variety of fund-raising events.

Watermead Day Nursery, in Watermead Lane, has already raised more than £150 for Comic Relief by holding a ‘where something red day’ and a Big Bake Off cake sale which saw youngsters make delicious goods.

And the nursery, which has an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating, has donated 50 bags full of clothing to Rainbows Hospice after organisers asked families to put unwanted clothes in charity bins Bertie, Betty and Barry.

Now the children are preparing to take part in the Watermead Teletubby Toddle - a sponsored event that will see them walk anywhere between half a mile and two miles for Barnardo’s.

The toddle, on Wednesday, May 31, will be around a nearby field and woods and those taking part are invited to wear bold colours and face paint.

A summer fete open day is also to be held on Saturday, June 17 between 10am-2pm in aid of Rainbows Hospice.

There is to be stalls, family activities and entertainment and the event is open to all who would like to attend.

Nursery owner Sarah Allan and strategy and finance manager Nicola Colman, said: “Working in partnership with parents and the local community we are proud of the recent charity work from all those involved.

“We very much look forward to our Watermead Teletubby Toddle raising money for Barnardo’s and our Summer Fete supporting Rainbows. We strive for excellence in all we do.”
