THE bandstand in Queen’s Park will play centre stage to performanc­es by talent from in and around Loughborou­gh this summer.

Free afternoon concerts by a number of bands and choirs will be staged on the bandstand from Sunday, June 4, until Sunday, August 27.

Performers will include the Loughborou­gh Male Voice Choir, Syston Band and Hathern Youth Concert Band.

Chris Traill, strategic director for neighbourh­oods at Charnwood Borough Council said: “Queen’s Park is a lovely place to visit during the summer.

“The addition of some beautiful music means people can enjoy an afternoon of entertainm­ent outdoors.

“If you haven’t visited before I’d encourage you to come along and enjoy these free concerts and see the park.

“The Loughborou­gh Carillon and Charnwood Museum are also in the park, so there’s plenty to see and do while you’re here.”

The concerts all start at 2pm and will take place: • Sunday, June 4 – Loughborou­gh Male Voice Choir and La Guitarelle • Sunday, June 18 – Charnwood Concert Band • Sunday, June 25 – Loughborou­gh Concert Band • Sunday, July 2 - Syston Band • Sunday, July 9 – Melbourne Town Band • Sunday, July 16 – Hathern Youth Concert Band • Sunday, August 13 – New Orleans Hot Shot Jazz Band • Sunday, August 27 – New Hall Ten Piece Band
