Detached annex to property is approved

-

A SWITHLAND home is to build a two-storey detached annex once discussions have been had regarding the materials used.

Charnwood Borough Council’s planning committee discussed the application to build an annex at the Tall Mains, of Main Street - a modern detached property originally built as a residential annex on land belonging to The White House.

Nigel Mills, who lives next door, objected to the proposal. He raised concerns over the annex’s height, placement and design.

He said: “The proposal is in red brick with timber cladding, I’m concerned that it is in inappropriate.”

Stephen Bradwell, speaking on behalf of the applicant, said: “It will not reduce light or overlook the next door property.

“The neighbouring buildings have a range of roof types, it will not look out of place and does certainly reflect the surroundings and character of the buildings.”

The application was brought to the committee at the request of Coun Leon Hadji-Nikolaou who said he would “support something deemed acceptable by both neighbours”.

Coun Ron Jukes said: “We have two intelligent people who are quite prepared to sit down and talk about what’s acceptable for both properties.”

The application was approved with the condition that planning materials are to be submitted to council officers first.
