Dewsbury-Hall signs two year professional deal
A SHEPSHED teenager has signed his first professional football contract after graduating from Leicester City’s academy side to the Development squad.
The Premier League side announced on Friday that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (18) had signed a two year deal to realise a dream the midfielder has had since joining the club as an eight-year-old from Shepshed Dynamo Warriors.
Announcing the deal the club said: “Industrious central midfielder Dewsbury-Hall has continued to impress for the Under-18s this year, helping the team reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
“The 18-year-old scored from long range during a 3-1 success over Leyton Orient in the third round before delivering a standout display against eventual winners Chelsea.
“Promoted to the Development Squad in March, the Shepshed-based Academy product made his debut at Under-23s level during a 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.”
This week his mum Vanessa Dewsbury, who was at the King Power Stadium with Kiernan’s stepdad Rajko Zarac to watch Kiernan sign his contract, said she was really proud of her son’s success.
“We are over the moon with the news and are incredibly proud of him! From beginning with Leicester at the age of eight he has given 100 per cent and with the support of the club he has achieved what many young footballers strive for in their career.
“We appreciate the continued support of Leicester City CFC and we hope that Kiernan continues to go from strength to strength.”
Kiernan added: “I am very happy to be signing my first professional contract with Leicester City and can’t wait to get to get started. My aim for the next season is to continue to work hard and progress, possibly go out on loan and eventually make my debut in the first team.”
