Shop theft found to be most common crime in latest statistics

NEW CRIME figures for Shepshed over the last month have been revealed.

Figures show incidents reported to Leicesters­hire Police and were discussed at the Shepshed Town Council meeting on Wednesday, June 7.

The most common crime was shop theft, of which seven incidents were reported.

There were three reports of burglary, one at the Hind Leys School office and one at the Shepshed Recycling Centre. Police said that nothing was stolen from the recycling centre but the office window was smashed and there was no more informatio­n about the reported theft at Hind Leys.

The third incident took place in Fairway Road Estate and police said no property was stolen.

There were two incidents of damage to motor vehicles, one in Fairway Road Estate where the front window was smashed and another in Brook Street where damage was caused to the wing mirror.

Police recorded one theft of a moped from the Iveshead Road area, and that the vehicle was later recovered.

There was one report of a theft from an insecure motor vehicle which took place in the Lansdowne Road area and one report of the theft of a tow bar from a car in Countryman­s Way Estate.
