CITIZENS Advice Charnwood has reported that it has helped more than 450 residents from Shepshed in the last year.

At the annual Shepshed Town Council meeting a report was presented to members of the council, which showed that 453 residents had used the service since June last year.

The report showed that the top three enquiry areas for Shepshed residents were benefits (35%), debt (22%) and employment (8%).

Ian Dennis, chief officer for Citizens Advice Charnwood said in the report: “This is an increase of nearly 100 on last year, which resulted in over 1,150 activities; face to face interviews, letters, phone calls etc, relating to nearly 1,400 advice issues.

“Despite the restructure of our organisation in 2016, we have retained the services of our Shepshed supervisor at 10 hours per week. This is possible due to the continued funding by Shepshed Town Council.”

The service in Shepshed is open two days a week, on Wednesdays from 9.30am to 1pm and on Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
