Terror attack

-

LEICESTERSHIRE’S Chief Constable Simon Cole has condemned the terrorist attack in North London which left one man dead and several others injured.

A van mounted the pavement near the Finsbury Park Mosque and was driven at a group of worshippers who were making their way home after attending evening prayers. One person died at the scene and eight people were taken to hospital suffering from injuries. A 48-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the van, was detained at the scene.

Mr Cole said the attack, which happened shortly after midnight on Monday morning, was “shocking and horrific”.

He said: “It appears to be a deliberate attack on innocent members of a particular community as they walked home after prayers.”
