Police arrest 10 on ‘day of action’

TEN people were arrested in Charnwood and Loughborou­gh during a “day of action” by police.

On Thursday, May 25, officers targeted people who were wanted by the force for burglary, criminal damage and assault.

A drugs warrant was also executed at an address after informatio­n was received from the local community.

Of those arrested, several people were charged with offences and are to appear at court:

• Four boys – aged 17, 15 and two aged 13 – were charged with an aggravated burglary, which took place on May 24 at William Lyon Court, Loughborou­gh

• And a 21-year-old Loughbor- ough man was arrested and charged with burglary.

A number of people were also arrested for other offences:

• A 15-year-old boy who was arrested for an assault on March 12, 2017 in East Avenue, Syston and criminal damage on March 20, 2017 at Wreake Valley Community College, Syston. He has been released pending further investigat­ion

• An 18-year-old man arrested for burglary other than dwelling between April 28 and April 29, 2017 on Fosse Way, Syston. He has been released pending further investigat­ion

• A 40-year-old man arrested for two counts of attempted burglary – May 20, 2017 in Derby Road, Loughborou­gh and May 22, 2017 in Oxford St, Loughborou­gh

• A 43-year-old man arrested for assault and possession of a dangerous dog for an incident on May 7, 2017 in Tyler Avenue, Loughborou­gh. He was released under investigat­ion

• A 33-year-old woman was arrested for obstructin­g a police officer on May 25, 2017 in Durham Road, Loughborou­gh. She was given an adult caution

• And on Friday, May 26, a 47-year-old man was arrested for burglary on May 7, 2017 at Proctor’s Park, Barrow-upon-Soar. He was released under investigat­ion.

Charnwood neighbourh­ood policing commander Dwight Barker said: “The day of action was aimed at preventing offending and reoffendin­g while protecting communitie­s and vulnerable people.

“We will continue to target those who cause most harm in our communitie­s and would encourage anyone with informatio­n about criminalit­y within their communitie­s to call us.”
