1,000-mile bike ride for hospital

-

SIX cyclists are hoping to complete more than 1,000 miles in eight days as they travel from Land’s End to John O’Groats in a bid to raise funds for Leicester Children’s Hospital.

Four of the cyclists, including Anthony Owen who is a consultant paediatric surgeon at the hospital they are supporting, are from Swithland.

The group hit the road on Saturday, June 17, and are attempting to travel more than 125 miles a day - more than the average on the Tour de France.

The group have already smashed their target of £10,000 - having set up a Just Giving page and having raised £1,400 at a family fun day.

Most of the cyclists’ children have at some point been treated at Leicester Children’s Hospital and say they have seen first hand the hard working, caring and compassionate front line staff delivering excellent care under immense pressure.

All money donated will be spent on equipment which will benefit children at the hospital.
