Pollution message through art

-

ARTY pupils at a primary school are picking up their pens and paintbrushes to help spread the word that taking a bus can help to cut air pollution.

Pupils at Church Hill Junior School, in Church Hill Road, Thurmaston, are in the driving seat for an Arriva Midlands campaign producing posters to be displayed on the backs of buses across the region.

The talented youngsters are dreaming up and drawing images to go along with Arriva’s messages that a double decker bus can take up to 75 cars off the road, that modern diesel buses produce fewer vehicle emissions than modern diesel cars and that without buses city congestion would be 21 per cent higher.

Arriva visited the school to tell pupils about the dangers of pollution and to ask for their help in the poster campaign.

The most striking designs will be turned into colourful posters which will be seen by thousands of motorists and pedestrians.
