Scary incident for motorist

-

A DRIVER on his way to pick people up from the Download Festival in Castle Donington has reported an attempted robbery in Melbourne.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: “A man had arranged to collect his friends from the Download festival and had stopped at the entrance of the industrial estate in Station Road, Melbourne, at about 11.30pm on Friday, June 9.

“A black 4x4, which the victim believes to be an old X plate Mercedes ML, pulled up near him.

“The passenger began asking for directions and while they were talking, men got out of the Mercedes and approached the victim’s car, telling him to get out and trying the door handle.

“The victim drove off toward Melbourne, hearing a loud thud at the back of his car. He later checked and found a deep mark in the bodywork, potentially caused by a hammer.

“He did not get a good look at the men, only to say they are white and in their 20s. The Mercedes had blacked out windows.”
