In favour of cross party Brexit talks
SUPPORT for cross party involvement in Brexit negotiations
I am writing in support of Laurence Emmitt’s letter in the Echo on June 14th.
Brexit is a major event, which will affect the country for tens of years to come. I think that it is totally inappropriate that the process should be managed and controlled by a small team lead by a Prime Minister with no majority, hence no mandate. The issue is too big.
A cross party steering team should be closely involved in negotiations so that the outcome does reflect the will of the people. Despite what has been claimed, the country is extremely divided in many ways.
The involvement of the best brains and a variety of opinions in the Brexit process, and the acceptance that there are different views could be a way towards a more unified society. Marianne Gilbert Quorn
