Ten ‘ton-plus’ finishes recorded

IT WAS a night of high class checkouts in the Loughborou­gh and District Pubs and Clubs Darts League last week as ten ‘ton-plus’ finishes were scored across the divisions. Scott Middleton hit a 102 and a 105 finish, and Stu Ashurst a 102 finish, as leaders Bottom Railway BA beat the Three Nuns Left footers 6-3 to remain three points clear at the top. Steve Hopkins hit a 137 finish for second place Spot On MP in their 7-2 win against the Arena Gladiators for whom Jim Toms also had a 106 checkout. Kelly Walsh hit a brilliant 156 finish and Captain Dan Jones also had a 120 finish for the Navigation Tap Tappers in a 6-3 loss to the Royal Oak Shooters, a game that saw Dan and Lyndon Hextall also hit maximums. Dan and Lyndon now join Blue Ball ‘Lion’ Tony Spencer on four maximums for the season in the race for the coveted ‘Most maximums in the season Trophy’ for Division One, whilst Kelly is second in the highest checkout competitio­n behind Spot On MP’s Mitch Gregory who had a 157 finish earlier in the season. In Wanty’s Division Two, leaders Brush Club AW continued their unbeaten run with a 6-3 win against the Spot On Guy ‘n’ Gals despite Michael Sceipanow hitting his sixth maximum so far this season. Michael leads the field for the trophy for the most maximums scored in Divisions Two to Six, with Eric Davis second on four. There were two 121 finishes in Tap and Mallet JB’3 5-4 away win against Beacon Yer Lolly, one for the ‘ Taps’ Ian White and one for ‘Yer Lollies’ Ian Wootton. In S H Cox Division Three, John Allenby hit his third and Dave Jamieson his second maximum of the season for leaders Blacksmith­s Blue Army, as they beat the Three Nuns Exiles 7-2 in the top of the table clash. The Three Crowns Barrow therefore move ahead of ‘the exiles‘ and back into second place, with their 5-4 win against Black Swan JS. Ryan Page hit a maximum and James Crosby a 112 finish for the Beacon Reds as they beat Generous Briton Dad’s Army 7-2 to move up two places in the division. In Generous Briton Division Four, leaders Spot On Rejects did not play so Plough B move up to second with their 5-4 win against the Twelve Degrees 26er’s. In Navigation Division Five, Dewdrop Blues beat the Generous Briton Luff’s 5-4 to stay one point ahead of the Swan in the Rushes Black Pearls, who beat the White Hart Stags 6-3. The Tap and Clapper Bob Bradley’s beat the Royal Oak Old Un’s 7-2 to remain third in the division. Finally, in Jim Kidger Division Six, Generous Briton Team GB are one of only three teams still undefeated this summer as they won their fifth straight game of the season to go top of the division. A close 5-4 win against the Crown Jewels Barrow puts them five points clear of the Top Railway DUI’s in second.
