A busy weekend for Loughborough Town Swimming Club

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Town Swimming Club had another busy weekend with swimmers competing in the final round of the Diddy League and at the Ripley Rascals Open Meet. The club’s younger swimmers were at Braunstone and produced a fantastic result in finishing third in the final round of the Diddy League. The team faced their strongest opposition yet and first places were achieved by Willem Muddimer in the 11 years 25m freestyle, Thomas Macmanard (10 yrs 25m backstroke) and Sean McCann (50m backstroke). These victories were backed up by 10 second places - Roman Manokhin (9 yrs - 25m breaststroke, Niamh Muddimer (9 yrs - 25m backstroke), Elizabeth Palfrey and Fitz Fantham (9yrs 25m freestyle), Amelia Johnstone (10 yrs - 25m backstroke). The nine-year-old girls and boys team both secured second places in their relay events with Niamh and Elizabeth being joined by Lily Chamberlain and Daisy Bacon. The boys team consisted of Fitz, Roman, Toby James and Alfie Smith. The girls 10 yrs team of Amelia, Francesca Palfrey, Holly Coulson and Imogen Sherman were also second in the Medley Team. In the 11 yrs age group Willem was joined by Leo Mochel, Ben Smith and Bhavesh Parmessur to finish second in their Medley Team event. Other members of the team who helped the club to their fantastic third position were: Matthew Longman, Avani Gupta, Cerys Peach, Ella Fairey, James Lake, Ross Baxter, Maxim Manokhin, Thomas Chamberlain, Hollie Bacon and Amelie McCann. Three of Loughborough Town’s swimmers went to the Ripley Rascals Open Meet on Saturday. Will Stone had a great day of racing winning gold in the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke.

He gained silver in the 200m freestyle and his time in the 200m Individual Medley earned him a ‘speeding ticket’ for swimming quicker than the event’s qualifying time! Josh Welford won a brilliant haul of five bronze medals in the following events; 200m Individual Medley, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle. Harriet Smith swam well to gain silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronzes in the 100m and 200m freestyle. This weekend, Loughborough Town’s swimmers will taking part in the club’s own Distance Gala at Loughborough Leisure Centre on Saturday.
