Loughborough Town take on Barrow in the sunshine

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Town lost the toss on a gorgeous summer’s day, and were stuck in the field by Barrow Town’s captain.

The Barrow batting order played superbly in a way which would be more fitting for a T20. They were at 120 in just the 14th over with all batsmen hitting frequent boundaries. They then lost two quick wickets as Nil Patel had both Rishi Patel (39) and Avtar (20) caught behind.

It was at this point where Loughborough missed a couple of crucial chances which allowed Taylor (83*) and Salgotra (57) to put on 109 runs. The Barrow batters kept on finding the boundary and finished on a very good 316.

In reply Loughborough lost A Patel early in the second over, but this just brought in-form batsmen James Rishton to the crease. He scored 146 runs from just 88 balls including 18 fours and 6 sixes. Wells played the unusual role of support as these two put on a 170 runs.

At 216-3 of 27 overs all looked okay for Loughborough, however five wickets fell for just 12 runs as Sayer bowled 5-38. Saddington did his best to push Loughborough up to 316, but however was given out LBW in the final over whilst playing for the draw on 33. Loughborough finishing on 287 all out.
