FANCY A FLAT WITH A BANKSY?

-

Graffiti has come a long way since the 1990s when it was the bane of local councils who spent millions trying to wash it off walls.

Now it’s art, a fashion started by Bristol-based spray-canner Banksy during the Noughties and who has since risen to global fame for his work.

One of his better known is The Artist, the nearest thing anonymous Banksy will ever get to a self-portrait.

It is framed on a wall on Acklam Road near Notting Hill in London.

It’s a 7x14ft piece said to be worth £2.3m and is preserved behind bullet-proof glass.

But the artwork is about to be moved.

Enstar Capital is spending £6.5m converting the three-storey building on which the Banksy artwork is sprayed into restaurants and flats. It says the Banksy – by which it means the wall – is to be raised from street level to the first-floor of the development and then illuminated by spotlights.

Properties within Sartoria House – which used to be home to fashion designer Ozwald Boateng – are not for sale but will be rented out at £1,000 a week. They will be available from early 2019. More information at enstarcapital.com
