THIS IS SURE TO MAKE A SPLASH

-

‘I’m just popping out to swim across to the neighbours.” It’s not a phrase you are likely to hear unless you live in Venice or on a tropical island. But it may become more common.

A development being built in London by construction firm EcoWorld Ballymore has plans to add a sky pool to the 10th floor, linking its two towers.

It says it is a world-first in swimming pool design because it will span two buildings and be made entirely of glass and acrylic. It will be 25m long, 5m wide.

Swimmers will have to be brave – and untouched by vertigo – as the water will appear to ripple unsupported between the towers, hundreds of feet up.

The pool’s designed by US aquarium company Reynolds which specialises in the huge ‘shark tunnels’ in many sea life centres.

Both ends will be overlooked by a ‘sky deck’ which will include a spa, summer bar and Orangery. As well as the sky pool and deck, residents at Embassy Gardens, in Vauxhall on London’s South Bank, also get access to a private members’ club including a movie screening room, gym, yoga studio, therapy room, library, lounge area and business suite.

Prices start at £650,000.

The development will include 2,000 homes; phase one is complete and occupied, while phase two is under way. More details from embassygardens.co.uk
