Writer’s play performed at fringe festival
A LOUGHBOROUGH writer’s play is to appear at the Buxton Festival Fringe this summer - and it features an actress who appeared in an Oscar nominated film.
Keith Large’s The Carrot Nappers will take to the stage on Sunday, July 9, at 1pm and 5.30pm at The Lee Wood Hotel, The Park, Buxton, as part of the annual open arts festival.
The Carrot Nappers is a story of love and lust among the onions, as out-of-work nightclub bouncer Vinnie Hollis attempts to recover a 17ft prize carrot.
The allotment-based tale was recently published in print to raise funds for the Stroke Association and ticket sales from the Buxton dates will go to the charity.
Keith told the Echo he feels the upcoming shows are his most exciting productions yet.
He said: “Three of the actors per- forming in Carrot Nappers - Peter McManus, Mark Theobald and Gabriel Lockwood - were cast after their fantastic performances at the Conquer Stroke new writing night. They will be joined by Eleanor Burke playing Lisa.
“Eleanor made her professional stage debut at the Buxton festival fringe working with me in 2010. She then went onto appear in the Oscar nominated film Kon Tiki.”
