Fun talk for WI

-

THE June meeting of Loughborough Ladies WI heard a talk from Heather Jacks, the 2014 winner of the BBC2 programme, The Great British Sewing Bee.

An amusing and informative evening, with ladies hearing behind the scenes details of what was essentially a reality TV series.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 6, when ladies will learn about The Joe Humphries Trust, a memorial trust established in October 2012. Ladies please wear casual clothing as there will be an interactive element to the evening.

The meetings are held at 7.30pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Park Road, Loughborough.

As well as the main monthly meetings, there are a number of clubs, including a Book Club, Coffee Club, Craft Club, Cinema Club, Supper Club and Theatre Club.

The Book Club continues to meet on a regular basis, reading a wide range of books. The next meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Thursday, 13th July 2017, at the Beacon Pub, when we will discuss the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, “The Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt.

The Coffee Club meets once a month on a Monday morning. The July Club will be held at Queen’s Park Café at 10.30am on 17th July 2017.

The Craft Club meets once a month at the Tesco Community room. Members are encouraged to look out their UFOs (unfinished objects) and take them along to work on while having a chat or getting help.

The Theatre Club is planning to see South Pacific in September.

The Group’s summer trip is to Barnsdale on 19th August 2017.

Oaks in Charnwood WI have invited members to a fashion show in September. Payment for this is due at the July meeting.

Other events ladies have recently enjoyed include a fun evening at Kwik Fit Loughborough, learning basic car maintenance and changing a wheel.

Others have recently had a further taster session of indoor bowls and others continue to enjoy being coached at squash, by a member who is also a qualified coach.
