Shepshed 1st XI race to quick victory over Huncote

SHEPSHED 1st Xl went to play Huncote 1st Xl with a 1pm start and wasted no time in bowling Huncote out for 65 with Paul Felton taking 5 for 27, Josh Wicks 3 for 32 and Adam Clapton 2 for 3.

When Shepshed batted it was all over after seven overs with Shepshed scoring 69-1 with Matt Taylor 35 not out along with Karl Shaw 6 not out and Andrew Gibson scoring 13 the game finished at 3pm with Shepshed picking up 25 points.

Shepshed’s 2nd XI were at home to Grace Dieu Park 1st Xl and Grace Dieu batted first making 114 all out with Ben Clarke the pick of the bowlers taking 4 for 23.

In reply reached the target finishing on 115 for 5 with Tim Evans top scoring with an unbeaten 36 as Shepshed picked up 25 points.

Shepshed’s 3rd XI travelled to play Ashby Hastings 2nd XI and and batted first making 212 for 6 with Tom Parker scoring an unbeaten 96.

Parker also took two wickets but it was not enough as the home side eased to 213-4 to secure victory.

Shepshed’s 4th XI were at home to Newbold Verdon 3rd XI who batted first and scored 179 for 6, the highlight for Shepshed’s bowlers was Max Newton taking a wicket with his first ball at this level of senior cricket.

In reply, a stand of over 100 between Mick Gibson and Max Bailess-Ford set Shepshed up to win this game without losing a wicket but when Mick Gibson went for 66 and the loss of two quick wickets it was left to teenager Max Bailess-Ford to steady the innings, hitting 68 as Shepshed reached 180 for 4 and picked up 25 points.
