Sileby Town top the Premier -

-

SILEBY Town are the new leaders of the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League Premier Division after a four wicket win over Leicester Ivanhoe on Saturday.

Winning the toss Sileby put their guests into bat and it looked like a wise move when opener Sam Evans was dismissed for four runs and Leicester Ivanhoe were at 6-1 but a second wicket partnership of 103 between Matthew Twigg (32) and Harry Swindells (56) steadied the ship.

The innings closed on 252-9 with the wickets shared between the Sileby bowling line-up.

In reply Sileby lost openers Dave Torr and Luke Gale with the score at 32-2 but Jake Gillett hit a critical 94 as he shared partnerships of 220 with Jigar Naik (38) Liam Kinch (33) and Mitchell Buck (43 not out) before he was out with the score at 252-5, just one run before Sileby secured victory.

Early pacesetters Kegworth are down to fourth in the table after losing their home clash against Kibworth by 30 runs on Saturday.

Batting first Kibworth were bowled out for 239 with George Scottorn the pick of Kegworth’s bowl- ers taking 3-23.

In reply Kegworth lost openers Adam Meads for a duck and Brent Williams for just one and the scoreline was helped along with 33 extras.

Coming in at number three, Harry Dearden out together a great innings of 115 but as the wickets kept falling, Dearden’s departure with the score at 193-7 proved the breakthrough Kibworth needed and they bowled out Kegworth for 209 to secure the victory.

Elsewhere Rothley Park secured a vital 25 points courtesy of a four wicket win over Barrow.

Barrow were bowled out for 226 with their number seven Sardeep Salgotra top scoring with 116. In reply, Rothley eased to 230-6 with opener Cameron Delport scoring 105 runs.

It narrows the gap between Rothley and Loughborough Town towards the foot of the table after Loughborough slipped to their fourth defeat of the season at the hands of Syston Town.

Loughborough batted first and were all out for just 126 and Syston eased to a seven wicket win hitting 132-3 in just 22.2 overs.
