Auditions for Benji

-

CHRISTCHURCH Theatre Club is seeking talented young performers to play the role of Benji in the feelgood hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert which arrives at Loughborough Town Hall in January 2018.

Based on the smash-hit, Oscar-winning movie, the musical is the heartwarming, uplifting adventure of three friends, Tick, Bernadette and Adam.

The glamorous Sydneybased performing trio agree to take their show to the middle of the Australian outback aboard a battered old bus nicknamed Priscilla.

Christchurch have already cast the leads - Ashley Bright as Tick, Nick Sutcliffe as Bernadette and Craig Butterworth as Adam - and now the search is on for a youngster to fill the role of Benji.

Benji is the son of Tick, a drag queen, and Marion, a hotel entertainments manager.

Marion has brought Benji up to be sweet and open minded.

Although father and son have never met, Benji accepts Tick for who he is when they finally do meet.

Christchurch is looking for male actors between the age of nine and 13 with an unbroken voice. They will be playing a 10 to 12-year-old.

They must have strong acting and singing ability. Musical theatre experience is preferred but not essential.

Parents are asked to note that the show contains occasional coarse language and adult themes. Auditions for the role will take place in September.

To register your interest in the role, email committee@christchurchtheatreclub.co.uk and full details will be sent out.

Further information about the show can be found on the Christchurch website at www.christchurchtheatreclub. co. uk/ priscilla.html
