LOUGHBOROUGH Lawn Tennis Club hosted a Learning Disability tournament at its Ingle Pingle base on Tuesday July 4, and all participants saw it as a great success.

The tournament was run by Inside Out Tennis, with support from national body The Tennis Foundation.

Martyn Whait, Director of Inside Out Tennis, said: “We’ve been providing disability tennis coaching at several clubs over the last few years. To see all the players come together for this tournament here at the Loughborough Club, and to see them play with such good spirit and enjoyment is fantastic.

“The Tennis Foundation has been of great support to us at Inside Out Tennis, as were all the volunteers on the day. Thanks also go all external supporters on the day, and a big thank you to Loughborough Tennis Club for hosting the event.”

Claire McCulloch, Disability Competitions Co-ordinator at the Tennis Foundations said: “It was a fantastic day that really showcased what can be achieved. Tennis players of all ages and abilities were catered for and able to take part in competition no matter what their previous experience had been.

“As Great Britain’s leading tennis charity, the Tennis Foundation is committed to making tennis inclusive and accessible to all.

“This tournament was a brilliant example of how competition can be fun and achievable for everyone. The event was such a success that it is something the Tennis Foundation would love to see replicated around the country”.
