Rehearsals underway for Comedy of Errors

-

AN OPEN air production of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors is coming to Quorn over August bank holiday weekend and rehearsals are hotting up along with the weather.

The New Quorndon Shakespeare Company (NQSC) is setting Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy in 1967, the ‘Summer of Love’.

Not only that but the men’s roles are to be played by women and the four female roles will be tackled by the men of the company.

Director Sharon Scott explained: “In Shakespeare’s time all the roles would have been played by men, of course, so having men play Adriana, Luciana, the Abbess and the Courtezan isn’t outrageous at all really.

“We rehearse outside as often as we can and it has been a lot of fun.

“I can guarantee that this will be a very lively and energetic production with a flower-power feel and a lot of laughs.”

Members of the company, Kate Cale (Dromio of Syracuse), Alice Templeman (Antipholus of Ephesus) and Guy French (Courtezan) have been busy rehearsing in Stafford Orchard in Quorn where the production will take place on Saturday, August 26, Sunday, August 27, and Monday, August 28, starting at 2pm each day.

The audience will be seated undercover and ‘rain will not stop play’!

Tickets are on sale now and the NQSC is offering an early booking discount.

Tickets bought before August 8 will cost £5 for an adults and £3 for those aged 16 years and under.

Tickets can be bought online at www. NQSC.co.uk or from Quorn Formal Hire in the village. Alternatively, telephone 01509 567176. Further details can also be found on the NQSC Facebook page or by emailing nqsc@ymail.com
