Caterham for Donington’s 40th

-

BOOKATRACK Caterham has launched a brand new limited edition Caterham 420R, to mark the 40th anniversary being celebrated this year by Donington Park circuit.

The new car is created and designed by BookaTrack Caterham and dubbed the Seven 420R Donington Edition. The car is endorsed by Donington Park and was launched at the Caterham 60th anniversary celebration on 8th July during the Caterham Festival held at the East Midlands circuit.

This prestigious limited edition range means that just 10 cars will be available. Each of these 10 cars will be built up on site, in the BookaTrack Caterham’s workshop at Donington Park, by Workshop Manager Stuart Faulds with Senior Retail Mechanic Robert Carter, and each car will be finished with a commemorative plaque, confirming its authenticity.

To celebrate this significant 40th anniversary since the 1977 re-opening of the circuit, each Seven 420R Donington Edition car will be allocated a unique track-related title to reflect Donington Park’s most famous features, such as Redgate, Craner Curves and Old Hairpin.

Available as either built on a standard S3 or the wider, longer SV chassis, the Seven 420R Donington Edition flaunts some of the best features that any Caterham has to offer. The spectacular 2.0 litre Ford Duratec engine produces a solid 210bhp, and is mated to a Sadev 6 speed sequential gearbox with limited slip differential. Suspension is taken care of by aero wishbones and race dampers with unique spring rates and 13” ZZR tyres.

Finished externally with a Superlight cage, aeroscreen, carbon vinyl half doors, a carbon vinyl tonneau and the distinctive dash and nosecone from the range-topping 620, the Seven 420R Donington Edition certainly will be eye-catching. The cars will all be finished to the same striking graphic design, which will reflect the colourscheme of the Donington logo.

Orders for this spectacular piece of history are now being taken, with delivery estimated for the second half of the year.

Christopher Tate, Donington Park’s managing director, said: “We are thrilled that Caterham are putting our name to such a special limited number of their iconic cars, in this year of great celebration for Donington Park. We have over the years seen some stunning racing from Caterhams at Donington, and it’s a very fitting link indeed for this commemorative model to be made.”

Graham Macdonald, Caterham’s chief executive officer, said: “As the Caterham Seven celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2017, it’s great to see that the Seven is also being personalised to mark Donington Park’s 40th anniversary.”

Director of BookaTrack Caterham, Jonny Leroux, said: “The Donington Edition Caterham Seven 420R is a culmination of the two most important brands to BookaTrack. Bringing Caterham Cars and Donington Park together for a limited edition model is the perfect way for BookaTrack to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Seven and the 40th Anniversary of the reopening of Donington Park.”

Each owner will also receive a signed certificate from both Graham Macdonald and Christopher Tate to validate authenticity of the model.
