Comfortabl­e league win for Loughborou­gh Town

LOUGHBOROU­GH Town secured a comfortabl­e win over Market Harborough on Saturday.

Loughborou­gh lost the toss and were stuck in by the visitors and lost two quick wickets within the first two overs.

First Patel was caught behind off the bowling of Sadd and then Rishton followed in the same manner off the bowling of Taylor.

The Harborough bowlers bowled tightly and managed to pick up a third wicket, with Mike caught at point of Sadd for just eight, befoire Truz and Shyam Patel then put together what proved to be the match winning partnershi­p putting on 90. Truz was dismissed shortly after the drink for 58 and Shyam Patel followed quickly after for 38.

This brought Bell and Purvis together who had another mini partnershi­p but wickets seemed to fall regularly for Loughborou­gh. Purvis made 31, Bell 36, but Loughborou­gh were all out for 213 in the 48th over, Perry the pick of the bowlers with 5-32.

In reply Harborough started well with boundaries early for both Taylor and Leonard. The game turned out to be a feisty affair with words exchanged between both batters and bowlers throughout the innings. Andy Rishton has Taylor caught at slip on 10, before picking up a further three wickets in a fantastic opening spell reducing Harborough to 49-4.

Mike then struck soon after, having set up Levine, caught at deep backward square leg. Kenny then had Sadd caught behind leaving Harborough 83 for 6.

Butchard and O’Callaghan put together some resistance but Saddington picked up both when he was introduced and from the other end Nil Patel picked up both Mir and Perry in the same over as Harborough were all out for 90.
