Fourth collision at danger junction in three weeks

-

FIRE and rescue services have been called to yet another car collision at a notorious danger junction in Shepshed.

Crews were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars at the Abbey Street junction with Charley Road on Thursday, July 20.

This is now the fourth collision at the junction in the last three weeks.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Services received an emergency call at 6.48pm and when crews arrived one car was on the road and one was in a ditch.

Fire services said that two male casualties involved in the collision both received first aid from fire crews.

One fire engine from Shepshed, and one from Coalville were called to the scene, as were Leicestershire Police.

Two weeks ago the Echo reported that improvements were to be made by Leicestershire County Council to try and help make the notorious junction safer.

These included additional signage, hazard perception bars (rumble strips) and reducing the speed limit to 50mph.

Police were called to another collision at the junction on Friday, July 14 where two people were taken to hospital, and police confirmed to the Echo that they had been called to two collisions in two days at the same junction the week before.

Emergency services were called to an incident involving two vehicles on Charley Road just before noon on Tuesday, July 4, and the next day (Wednesday, July 5), officers were called again to a collision involving two vehicles on Abbey Road just before 7pm.
