PARISH COUNCIL.
Wysall and Thorpe parish council have elected Coun Mrs Carolyn Birch as its new vice chairman, taking over from David Grenz who has resigned from the council.
Parish clerk Mike Elliott reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council say the parish council can now co-opt a new member to fill the outstanding vacancy. A notice had been erected to advertise the fact.
Fingerpost direction signs. Confirmation now given the County Council they will provide refurbishment of the two signs and have confirmed will be wooden arms.
It was felt the bench on Main Street needed replacing because of its condition. The chairman would talk to Mrs Pat Roberts to ask if she would consider the replacement as a memorial to her late husband David who had been chairman of the council for many years.
Local resident Mr Mike Stanley, wrote in respect of the funding of the parish council. It was agreed to look at the matter in detail in November when the budget for 2018-9 would be considered. Notts CPRE wrote to advise that Wysall had reached the final stage of the best kept village judging and would be judged again in July.
Mr Stanley wrote in respect of the VETS scheme in connection with the defibrillator and updated members on how the scheme worked.

Village hall: Rushcliffe Streetwise suggest in their annual report two public seats on play area and hall site need sanding down and repainting. The meeting agreed to look at this again later in the year. The chairman updated members on the situation concerning the booking form and licensing.
The food fair is to be held on 17th September. It will have a new start time of 11am. Over 20 stalls now confirmed. A large but conventional microwave oven is to be purchased.
Steps are being taken to stage a Darren Hayman Evening in January and in the meantime members are to try and track down various interesting pictures, maps, documents about the history of Wysall to make the evening of real interest to villagers.
Entertainment and Alcohol Licence: The hall now has a new entertainment and alcohol licence time until 11.30pm, out by 12pm.
Smoking and Vaping: There should be no smoking or vaping inside the village hall or around the children’s play area. The Christmas Fair will be on Saturday, December 2. Two charities would be beneficiaries, the John van Geest Research Fund because of Martin Dawkins in the village who ran the London Marathon in support of it and the Fearless Neonatal Unit at QMC for premature babies due to Jo Cuthbert’s grand-daughter being born very prematurely would be the second one. Proceeds from the Raffle, Christmas Card and Calendar would be split between them.
