FOLLOWING the success of last year’s event, the Countryside Show is set to return to Loughborough this month.

Beacon Hill Country Park will host Leicestershire County Council’s Countryside Show, which aims to showcase the best of countryside life, on Bank Holiday Monday (August 28).

The show boasts plenty of country-based entertainment and a food marketplace, where attendees can taste some of the freshly crafted produce Leicestershire has to offer.

The unique Sheep Roadshow is joining the bill this year with its ‘highly entertaining and extremely informative’ show which even includes dancing sheep.

The show, which has been designed for all ages, also features The Extreme Mountain Bike Show, heavy horse and bird-of-prey demonstrations, as well as music and a wealth of children’s activities such as tree climbing and bug house building.

More than 4,000 visitors went to the show in 2016 and it is hoped this year’s event attracts even more.

Leicestershire County Councillor Coun Richard Blunt, cabinet member for heritage, leisure and arts, said: “Building on the success of last year, we’re looking forward to welcoming people to the beautiful setting of Beacon Hill for an even bigger, better bank holiday day out.

“We’re providing a family-friendly event for people of all ages to enjoy the delights of the countryside.”

The event will run from 9am to 5pm, with tickets available to buy in advance or on the gate.

Demonstrations will be held across the day, with an auction fina- le for visitors to bid on some of the exhibitors’ show-stopping creations.

There will be also be food, drink, around 100 exhibitors and a craft marquee at the event.
