Mahesh to make debut at Curve after being spotted

-

A TALENTED Loughborough teenager is set to make his debut under the bright lights at Curve Theatre in Leicester for the first time tomorrow after being spotted at his school’s show.

Mahesh Parmar, 17, will play the part of mischievous fairy Puck in the Curve Young Company (CYC) and Community production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, having been spotted at a Rawlins Academy show by Curve’s director of learning, Mel Knott.

Unaware that Mel was in the audience for his performance, Mahesh was shocked when she introduced herself after the show.

He said: “As soon as Mel approached me and encouraged me to join the team at Curve Young Company, I didn’t hesitate at all before saying yes – it was an amazing opportunity.

“Within a month of joining CYC I’ve landed the fantastic role of Puck in a community show at Curve.

“It’s a really exciting experience to be a part of with a lovely cast and incredible production team.

“We’ve had plenty of rehearsals so the show is really piecing together nicely.”

Having been an audience member at last year’s CYC and Community production of Bugsy Malone, Mahesh was already inspired to take to the stage at Curve.

He said: “I’ve watched several shows at Curve before but it’s obviously going to be a completely different experience to look out over all of those seats.

“It’s really jaw-dropping to think I’ll be performing in front of all those people every night.

“To be under the spotlights at an amazing producing theatre like Curve, with such brilliant support and experience from the professional company behind us is mind-blowing.

“Our director Nick Winston has made this great adaption that mixes Shakespearean comedy with contemporary music and dance and our choreographers, Mel Knott and Si Rawlinson, are giving us all some really cool moves. This show has something for absolutely everyone.”

The CYC and Community production’s diverse cast includes a mix of seasoned performers to fresh new faces, with ages ranging from 12 to 63.

Mahesh and Joel FossardJones, who both play the role of Puck, and the rest of the group will take to the stage tomorrow (Thursday, August 10) with A Midsummer Night’s Dream and will perform the show at Curve until Sunday, August 20.

• Tickets start from £10 and can be purchased online at www.curveonline.co.uk or by calling the ticket office on 0116 242 3595.
