Renault Captur is evolving...

RENAULT’S new Captur urban crossover made its global debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and it is now available to order with first deliveries this month.

The new Captur has evolved by taking a step closer in style to its bigger sibling, the Kadjar.

The radiator grille has been modified to bring it more into line with Renault’s crossover family design, with the notable addition of a chrome strip.

At both the front and rear, the bumper incorporates new skid plates while the latest Captur features C-shaped LED daytime running lights incorporated into the bumper.

The rear lights also include the C-design hallmark, visible both night and day.

Full-LED Pure Vision front lights, which are said to reduce glare, will be available on certain models.

On the inside, Renault says the new Captur cabin is more refined, benefitting from higher grade plastics, sleek chrome and elegant colours.

The steering wheel is also made of higher grade materials and, in higher- end versions, comes trimmed with full-grain leather.

The gear lever has been restyled while the door panels have been revised to incorporate buttons and controls within the trim.

Renault has reworked the seat design to give more support all round and the zip removable and washable upholstery which featured on the original model has been retained.

On the technology front, the new Captur will have a choice of three multimedia systems - R&GO, Media Nav and R-LINK - as seen on other models in the current line up.

R&GO is Renault’s smart system that transforms a user’s smartphone into a connected tablet installed in a universal cradle. This system enables the user to access the car’s most useful functions, including navigation (through an in-app purchase), telephone, multimedia and vehicle data.

Renault R-LINK provides the new Captur with a more advanced multimedia system and comes with a seven-inch screen incorporating navigation with real-time traffic updates, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth, media playback for photos and videos and a variety of applications via Renault’s R-LINK Store. It can also be used to manage the vehicle’s driving aids.

The new crossover comes in five trim levels - Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, Signature X Nav (previously Signature Nav), plus a new, even more luxurious trim – Signature S Nav.

As far as engines go the UK line-up features the 898cc TCe 90 and 1.2-litre TCe 120 petrol engines, plus the 1.5litre dCi 90 and dCi 110 diesel units.

Manual versions use Renault’s stop/ start fuel and emissions saving technology.

A dual-clutch EDC gearbox is available with the TCe 120 and dCi 90 engines.

Prices start at £15,355 for the Expression+ TCe 90 and up to £23,145 for the top range Signature S Nav dCi 110.
