Division One leaders exit Kater 4 Cup

THE THIRD round games of the Kater 4 Knockout cup were played last week in the Loughborou­gh & District Pubs and Clubs Darts League.

In the top game of the draw Blue Ball Division One leaders Bottom Railway BA lost a tough game against fellow Division One side Spot On MP 5-4. Andy Hibbert hit his sixth maximum of the season for the Bottom Railway, but this was matched with two maximums for Spot On’s Leon Jarram and one for Captain Mike Pepper, his fourth of the season.

In another all Division One tie, last season’s Kater 4 cup runners-up Navigation Wagg’s Gang beat the Three Nuns Left Footers 6-3. ‘Left Footer’ Rich Greasley also hitting his fourth maximum so far this season in the tie. Navigation Tap Tappers, second in Division One, beat the Spot On Dinosaurs 7-2 and the Royal Oak Shooters make up the fourth Division One side to progress through to the next round after their 7-2 win against the Spot on Lads. Both Division Six sides left in the third round draw put up a brave fight, with the Swan in the Rushes Savvies narrowly losing 5-4 to Division Two side Tap and Mallet JB, and Blue Ball MS losing by the same score to Division Four Tap and Clapper. Beacon Yer Lolly beat fellow Division Two side Top Railway A 5-4, and in the final game of the round the Three Crowns, Barrow beat the Spot on Rejects 7-2.

In the second round of the Plate Competitio­n, last season’s winners the Arena Gladiators eased past the Crown MA 9-0, and are now joint favourites with Division One side Blue Ball Lions, who beat the Plough B 6-3. They are joined in the next round draw by Division Three side Three Nuns Exiles, Division Four Crown Rejects, Division Five Dewdrop Blues and Tap and Clapper Bob Bradley’s and Division Six sides Shepshed Dynamo B&W and Top Railway DUI’s.

The draw for the next round of the cup competitio­ns will take place on Thursday, August 17, at the Blacksmith­s Loughborou­gh, for games to be played on Thursday, August 31, 2017. For teams that are no-longer involved with the cup competitio­ns this Thursday is an ideal opportunit­y to re-arrange league fixtures that need to be played.
