Shepshed U11’s clinch club’s first ever county trophy
SHEPSHED U11’s have won the Incrediball county cup final with victory over Langton.
Shepshed won the toss and invited their opponents to bat first.
Langtons struggled to build any momentum throughout their innings with great spells at the beginning and end by Isaac Reed (1-10), Sam Branton (1-8) and Jack Clarke (2-6). A brilliant spell from Finlay Louis during the middle overs, with figures of 1-13 which really don’t do it justice, was backed up by Amber Bottrill (0-13), Jake Adam (0-6) and Will Maxfield-Walton (1-9). The bowlers were supported by an outstanding fielding display with a number of good catches and three run outs, including a direct hit from Isaac Reed.
This resulted in Langtons scoring 260 but losing 9 wickets, setting a total of 216 for victory.
Shepshed got off to a slow start in reply falling to 196 at one stage in the opening partnership before Fin Louis and Jake Adam rebuilt and retired with the score on 204 after 4 overs.
Sam Branton and Amber Bottrill built on this platform taking Shepshed towards the required 216 score line with Branton playing a lovely cover drive in his 9.
Isaac Reed and Will Maxfield-Walton then batted with great maturity to add another 20 runs for the 3rd partnership with the game all but won Shepshed saw the game out comfortably - a superb achievement for a very good squad of young players and a first trophy, junior or senior, for Shepshed CC.
