League newcomers overcome Birstall Stamford 3-0

IN THE Anstey Sports Bar Premier Division, a hat trick for Finchy’s Aaron Preston saw the leagues newcomers overcome Birstall Stamford 3-0. Whilst promoted FC Poplar put up a great performanc­e against the establishe­d Quorn Royals, in the end the Quorn side came out on top 2-0, courtesy of goals from Nick Gould and Sam Moore. In the other Premier game, it ended all square between newcomers Iannis and Anstey Sports Bar. In the Sylvia Haynes Division One, Spinney Rovers and Sileby Athletic fought out a ding dong battle with Sileby’s Lewis Maxfield and Joe Hetterley securing the points with a narrow 2-1 win. Birstall Stamford reserves beat Anstey Sports bar reserves 5-1, Warren West scoring the consolatio­n for Anstey. Another 5-1 result went the way of Bharat, Kegworth Imperial their unfortunat­e opponents. The other two fixtures in this division both ended 3-3. Burton entertaine­d F.C Hathern for their openinglea­gue game of the season and in the early stages it was the visitors who enjoyed the lion share of possession. The hosts came more into the game as the half progressed and were awarded a penalty when Craig Woolley was adjudged to have been fouled, Ash Heffer converted from the spot to give Burton a narrow half time lead. Hathern drew level early in the second half and then went on to take the lead when the Burton keeper failed to connect with an acute angled shot. Burton never gave up and were rewarded with an equaliser midway through the second period when Dan Hardy-Smith connected with a deep cross from the right. Hathern must have thought they had clinched the game when, scoring deep into the last quarter. Burton however had other ideas and levelled when Josh Smith netted from close range five minutes from time. Shepshed United and Newboys also shared six goals, two goals by Charlie Dunkin and a great penalty by Dean Pell wasn’t quite enough to pick up three points for Shepshed. In the A.B. Wallace Division Two the early leaders on goal difference are Red Cow Rangers who beat Cricketers 8-0, two goals each for Jack Goodall and Jake Williams the main scorers. Another side to score eight were Stamford A , Athletic Sportsman’s consolatio­n scored by Dale Hartopp. A hat trick from Leon Coleman, two from Matty Harrison, plus goals from Josh Cox and Danny Concannon saw LK United beat Greenhill Sparrows 7-1. Thorpe Acre entertaine­d The Swan from Newbold Verdon and kept a clean sheet whilst scoring four. AFC Sporting Charnwood won 3-2 against Buddha FC. Goals scored by Jason Staples and Colin Orr (2). Goals from Ash Jones (2), Mason Smith and Ross Taylor-Knoll saw Winchester Phoenix beat Real Shoemakers 4–1. In Division Three New Parks Rangers were at home to GNG, New Parks took the game from start to finish after the massive confidence boost of an early goal in the 10th minute by Jake Tomlinson, Jake then got a second at 40 mins followed by his 3rd goal before half time to complete his hat trick. In the second half Conner Kiely, Adam Mattock and Wade Wright-Smith added to make the final score 6-1, New Parks man of the match was Nicky Wright with some fantastic saves. Ball Park and Racing Alleno fought out a nine goal thriller, with Racing taking the points with goals from Aaron March (2), Gregg North (2) and Mitch Cole. Syston Brookside reserves lost at home to Verdon Athletic 3-4, Verdon scorers were Luke Garratt with two, Nathan Lord and Matt Bradley. Syston’s scorers, Shaun Patterson (2) and Emmanuel Hkongho. Dishley Rangers won 4-0 away at Braunstone United, Andy Dengate, Lee Paxman-Clarke, Tomas Schofield and Leyton Dilkes their scorers. Two goals from Kane Clarke added to by Daniel Fowler, Liam Morrison, Luke Palmer and Jake Bird for Thurmaston DPC sees them join top after a 6-1 victory over Greenhill Sparrows reserves.
