Lightning set for the O2 Fast5

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Lightning Netball have unveiled their squad for the inaugural Fast5 All-Stars Netball tournament, which will take place at The O2, London, on Saturday, September 23.

An exciting new event on the netball calendar, there is also an added sense of occasion as the competition will be Karen Atkinson’s final tournament in charge of the Loughborough Uni outfit.

Leading the line is shooting sensation Peace Proscovia, who was one of the stars of the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season, helping Lightning to top the league.

Joining her in the squad are England international mid-courters Beth Cobden and Nat Panagarry who will captain the Lightning side as she did in the VNSL.

England U21 internationals Vicki Oyesola and Rebekah Airey are also part of the squad, as are Loughborough Uni graduate Ella Gibbons, Rosie Harris, who made the step up to the Lightning senior squad this year, England U19 shooter Chloe Essam, and Harrie Gill.

The final addition to the squad is South African international Renske Stoltz, who is Lightning’s overseas pick.

On acting as Lightning Head Coach for the final time, Karen Atkinson said: “I am really excited about this squad and what we can achieve at the o2. Fast 5 is an exciting, unpredictable format of the game.

“I hope lots of Loughborough Lightning fans come down to London to cheer us on. It will be a fantastic day out.”
