School week on boat

AS PART of a Soar Valley Project school children from Harry Carlton secondary school in East Leake spent a weeek doing their school work on board a boat.

Children were looking at the subject ‘the canalisation of the Soar Valley’ and spent the week looking, hearing, exploring and learning all about the British Waterways system.

Children learnt the waterways “highway code”, how to operate locks, and spent time exploring riverside churches and keeping speed, distance and incident logs.
