Instant super policing
A NEW method of fighting crime was introduced in Leicestershire and Rutland for the first time - instant policing by computer.
An £18,000 computer meant that control room staff at the force’s HQ in London Road, Leicester, could get in touch with 600 policemen on the beat and 317 mobile men.
Chief Supt Reginald Antill hailed it as “the birth of instant super policing.”
