Rothley village in danger of becoming a town

- Geoff Allen Templar Way Rothley

I AM writing on behalf of “Save Rothley” who are once again battling with Wilson Homes who have re-submitted plans to build 175 houses off Westfield lane - Rothley, 40 per cent of which will go to Social Housing

Despite the record number of objections last year we are having to put up another fight because we have had over 1,000 houses built since 2006 and the village is under such strain with not having a doctors surgery, Alpine House Mountsorrel being full, parking is at a premium, the new school is virtually full and with several hundred more houses being built at this time, where are all these children going to go , not to mention the entire families having no surgery.

The ‘one-way’ proposed entrance to this site on Westfield Lane would mean felling mature trees which have TPO’s (tree protection order) on them so how could this be allowed......

Rothley has been over developed over the last four years and we simply do not have the infrastructure to cope.

Traffic jambs are a frequent problem especially at the Red Lion Traffic lights and this would become even greater....

We were lead to believe by the Core Strategy that , “No more estates would be allowed, only infill applications would be considered”

We only have until September 21 to get all objections in to Charnwood Borough Council (CBC) and there are several box’s in various shops in the village with pre-printed letters for any one wishing to sign (ONE letter per person)

We have delivered letters to most dwellings with letters and put up a number of posters in and around the village with a hope that we can urge CBC to refuse planning The application is: P/17/1542/2 People can e-mail development.control@charnwood.gov.uk or write to Charnwood Borough Council, Council Offices, Southfield Road, Loughborough, LE11 2TN with objections.

We are losing so much of our countryside and the village is becoming a town.
