SHEPSHED

-

■ ■Shepshed is lively community driven place with its own town council in the borough of Charnwood local authority.

■ ■It is the second biggest settlement after the town of Loughborough.

■Until 1888 it was often known as Sheepshed and Sheepshead - names possibly derived from the village being heavily involved in the wool industry or more simply, ‘a hill where sheep graze’.

■The town has a number of supermarkets, and hostelries and a popular football team.
