Leak is fixed after weeks

Loughborough Echo - - NEWS -

A PIPE which supplies thousands of homes with water has been fixed after several weeks of leaking onto a road.

The Echo was notified of the leak on August 28 by a reader who felt “nothing was being done” about the pipe that had been spilling water onto Roecliffe Road, Cropston, for five weeks.

Severn Trent Water said the leak was from “one of the bigger pipes that supplies thousands of homes with water” and repairs required “careful planning to make sure water supplies weren’t affected”.

Severn Trent Water has since told the Echo the leak has been repaired.

A spokesperson said: “The work was completed on September 14.

“We’re really sorry if this leak caused any inconvenience but we’re sure our customers understand that we had to get this repair right and that we couldn’t take any risks.

“We also had to prioritise leaks and bursts that were affecting the water supplies for our customers – obviously we need to fix those as a priority, all of which meant it took a little bit longer than normal to fix this one.”
