Chance to air your views on school trans­port changes

RES­I­DENTS are be­ing urged to have their say on pro­posed changes to school trans­port across the county.

Le­ices­ter­shire County Coun­cil is en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to share their views on pro­pos­als which could see changes to its special ed­u­ca­tional needs (SEN) and home to school trans­port poli­cies. The coun­cil has launched a 12-week con­sul­ta­tion about changes which could in­clude:

• Re­duc­ing the level of dis­count avail­able to stu­dents from low in­come fam­i­lies and those chil­dren at­tend­ing spe­cial­ist nurs­eries

• Stop­ping coun­cil ar­ranged taxi and minibus pro­vi­sion to trans­port SEN stu­dents to post 16 ed­u­ca­tion and pro­vid­ing di­rect fi­nan- cial sup­port in­stead

• Stop­ping trans­port to post 16 ed­u­ca­tion for el­i­gi­ble main­stream post 16 stu­dents.
