Open evening

-

LOUGHBOROUGH Charnwood Speakers Club has an open evening.

A UK offshoot of the better known Toastmasters organisation, we operate on much the same lines. Encouraging people to gain confidence in speaking to an audience by practising in a small club environment.

Short speeches of between five and eight minutes following guidance through a manual and impromptu topic sessions which entertain a small group of like minded people.

Members also get to take turns at chairing meetings and other club offices.

We not only have clubs throughout the UK but also a club in Canada who joined us from Toastmasters so we are beginning to get an international following.

We were pleased to welcome a visitor at the last meeting who had been to a Toastmasters evening and who wanted to experience what we had to offer. She bravely took part in the Topics session.

As a student at Loughborough University it is hoped that she will gain good experience in better presenting her work.

Yana who is originally from China has been with us for some time now and was awarded a certificate of achievement. We hope these make a useful addition to a person’s CV when applying for jobs.

This is the beginning of our season which runs from September to June so an ideal time to join us.

We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at John Storer House, 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.
