MEL’S JUNGLE CLEARANCE
Most Hollywood stars spend their lives amassing considerable property empires, and Mel Gibson is no different.
During a career that has spanned 30 years and included hits such as the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon series and Braveheart, Gibson has used his considerable fortune to buy half a dozen properties.
This includes homes in California, Costa Rica – which he bought while filming the movie Apocalypto – as well as properties in Fiji, Australia and Montana.
He has begun offloading them though, and recently sold a home in Sherman Oaks, California for £2.1m, as well as putting his Malibu mansion on the market for £17.5m, which he bought from actor David Duchovny for £11.5m.
His latest disposal is one of his Costa Rican properties. It’s a 403-acre beachfront jungle estate on Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula on the country’s northern Pacific Coast.
It includes three houses, two of which are single-storey, two-bedroom properties, each with their own swimming pool and barbecue area.
The third property is the main house called Casa Guanacaste. It’s a two-storey hacienda-style residence overlooking the estate’s private beach with seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a large pool.
The estate would suit a wildlife enthusiast as the area contains howler monkeys and ocelots, plus its beach is used by turtles to lay eggs.
The Playa Barrigona estate, is for sale at £29.75m.
