Third title for Spot On Dinosaurs

THE final games of the summer 2017 Season of the Loughborou­gh and District Pubs and Clubs Darts League were played last week.

In Blue Ball Division One Bottom Railway BA retained their crown despite losing 7-2 to second place Navigation Tap Tappers and make it a hat-trick of Division One titles. Tap Tappers Captain Dan Jones hit his 11th maximum of the season to draw level with Bottom Railway’s Andy Hibbert in the race for the most maximums scored in the season in Blue Ball Division One, and both will share the trophy. His team mate Lyndon Hextell also scored a maximum in the game, and he finishes in third place on 10 for the season.

Elsewhere in the division Blue Ball Lions played Navigation Wagg’s Gang twice on the final night, winning one and losing one, as a result the ‘Lions’ finish in third place a point behind ‘the Tappers’ .

In Wanty’s Division Two, Spot On Dinosaurs sealed their third successive division title with an emphatic 8-1 win against the Spot On Lads, Jay Foreman and Ben Hallam both hitting maximums for the ‘Dinosaurs‘ in the game. Duane Freer hit two maximums and Ant Hoare one as their Brush Club AW secured the runners-up spot with a 6-3 win against Beacon Yer Lolly. Top Railway A beat Shepshed Dynamo Gatecrashe­rs 7-2 and finish third.

In S H Cox Division Three leaders the Three Crowns, Barrow beat second place Blacksmith­s Blue Army 7-2 in their re-arranged game to secure the top spot. The Three Nuns Exiles are third behind the ‘Blue Army’ after beating the Bull and Bush Laughing Boys 6-3.

In Generous Briton Division Four the Twelve Degrees 26er’s took the title from long time leaders Spot On Rejects with an excellent 8-1 win against Blue Ball B. The ‘Spot On’ have to settle for second place with Tap and Clapper in third.

In a night of high drama in Navigation Division Five, Dewdrop Blues beat the Crown MA twice on the night to come within one point of catching leaders Swan in the Rushes Black Pearls who lost 5-4 to third place Blue Ball CS.

Finally in Jim Kidger Division Six, the Plough Ernie’s take the title with a 7-2 win over Generous Briton Team GB. The Crown Jewels finish second after their 7-2 win against Shepshed Dynamo B&W and the Swan in the Rushes Savvies snatched third place from the Top Railway DUI’s with a 9-0 whitewash of Blue Ball MS.

All division winners are invited to take part in the Shardlow Brewery Champion of Champions Knockout Cup this Thursday, October 5, at the Royal Oak, Leicester Road, Loughborou­gh.

Registrati­on for the forthcomin­g winter 2017 season is also at the Royal Oak this Thursday.

With the season now complete the summer singles and pairs competitio­ns, which are open to all LDPCDL players signed on for the summer season, will be held as follows:

Division One and Two Singles Open: Thursday, October 12, at the Arena Club; Division Three to Six Singles Open Thursday, October 12, at the Peacock; Division One and Two Pairs Open: Thursday, October 19, at Spot On Leisure; Division Three to Six Pairs Open: Thursday, October 19, at the Plough.

Players should register on the night prior to the draw which will take place at 8.15 prompt. No late entries will be accepted.
