Revamped post of­fice to open longer

SHEP­SHED Post Of­fice’s open­ing hours are to be ex­tended fol­low­ing a mod­erni­sa­tion of the branch.

A newly mod­ernised main branch will launch at 1pm on Monday, Oc­to­ber 16 which will in­clude two new dig­i­tal coun­ters.

The refurbished branch will open from 9am till 5.30pm on Monday to Satur­day.

The new open­ing hours will in­crease by an ex­tra five hours on Satur­day after­noons.

The new-look Post Of­fice will mean res­i­dents and small busi­ness cus­tomers will be able to ac­cess a wide range of Post Of­fice and mails ser­vices, in­clud­ing in­ter­na­tional parcels, spe­cial de­liv­ery, lo­cal col­lect and home shop­ping re­turns, make cash with­drawals from a Post Of­fice card ac­count, send funds abroad us­ing Money­gram, pay bills, buy hol­i­day money, get in­surance, mort­gages and sav­ings and top up mo­bile phones.

The of­fice at 7 Mar­ket Place, Shep­shed, will need to close for five days in or­der for the re­fur­bish­ment to take place.

It will close at 5.30pm on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 11 for the re­fur­bish­ment to take place, re -open­ing again on Monday, Oc­to­ber 16 at 1pm.

Dur­ing this short pe­riod of clo­sure Post Of­fice ser­vices may be ac­cessed from any con­ve­nient Post Of­fice branch, in­clud­ing:

· Gorse Covert Post Of­fice, Unit 3, Gorse Covert Shop­ping Cen­tre, Maxwell Drive Lough­bor­ough LE11 4RZ

· Bed­ford Square Post Of­fice, 50 Wards End, Lough­bor­ough LE11 3HB

Fiona Shana­han, area man­ager said: “We are mak­ing it eas­ier for cus­tomers to get their cash, send and col­lect their mail and do their bank­ing be­cause we know how im­por­tant these ser­vices are to lo­cal res­i­dents.”

She added: “We are con­fi­dent that this vi­brant new-style Post Of­fice at the heart of the lo­cal com­mu­nity will meet cus­tomer needs.

“This mod­erni­sa­tion is part of a ma­jor in­vest­ment pro­gramme, the largest in the his­tory of the Post Of­fice.”
